Core Toons Issue #18
We're excited to say 'hello again' to old friends and "hiya" to new ones, too!
We are so excited to be back for season 2 of Core Toons comics for kids! 🥳🎉🎈Here at Core Toons, we get together every week to talk kids comics biz. Last week we had a fun chat about how we got started with comics. Check it out!
Here’s the comic we were talking about in the video above - it’s a re-run of an early Felix comic that’s good for new-to-comics readers. Enjoy! 😁
🐈⬛ COMiCS with FELiX by Sarah Giles
In comics, words are usually held inside shapes. There are bubbles, balloons, and boxes. The type of shape is like a code that tells who is saying the words and how they are doing it.
Talking and thinking by a character are in balloons and bubbles, while boxes usually hold words from a narrator or background information.
🐈⬛ What do you notice about the balloon where Felix is talking? Where does the tail of the balloon point?
🐈⬛🐈⬛ When Felix is thinking or dreaming, how is the bubble different from when he is talking?
🚀GalactiCATs by Ken Rolston
There’s something new going on in space! An asteroid has entered Earth’s orbit and it’ll stay as a second little moon for 56 days before being escaping Earth’s gravity. The GalactiCATs came across this asteroid before it reached Earth, but as Earth was in no danger from the asteroid, they studied it and moved on.
🚀 Is the asteroid in orbit of the Earth right now?
🚀🚀 What force caught the asteroid?
